Social Manager, @Sip.Straws

 

From July 2019-present, I manage social media, specifically Instagram, for Sip Straws, a glass straw company donating 10% of every Sip purchase will be donated to Oceana. For Sip, I oversee our Instagram feed and Instagram Story, creating and shooting content to increase our engaged audience and showcase why they should shop Sip.

For Sip, I plan, shoot, and edit social lifestyle photos.

The details:

  • I plan and shoot lifestyle photos specifically for Sip’s social audience with a focus on emulating UGC (User-Generated Content) and developing an impactful, unique palette.

  • I make recommendations based on feedback from the audience to assist with marketing.

  • I work with the brand’s founders directly to plan out content and build shotlists and assignments to ensure content is both varied and consistent.

From July 2019 - present: manage and oversee all social media channels for @ODotSchool, a non-judgmental resource for sexuality and dating. I rebranded all social accounts, developing branding and corresponding brand guidelines, managing all social calendars, and creating content. I also report out on metrics and create weekly and quarterly reports.

The details:

  • For O.school, I created branding and brand guidelines for social, presenting several concepts to the team for feedback and to ensure these designs aligned with larger brand messaging.

  • I created and oversee our social calendars, including Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and Instagram Stories.

  • My priorities as a social editor: to create consistency, to create an engaged audience (engagement>followers), and to grow an audience that will continue to translate to our overall goal, whether that means sales, event attendance, etc.

  • I use my experience with A/B testing to decide on what to prioritize on each platform, and continue to do so on a regular basis to ensure that content is fresh and relevant with the ever-changing nature of social media.

Social Editor @HerCampus

From Feb. 2017 — June 2019: directly manage all social strategy for the #1 new media brand for the empowered college woman and leading millennial marketing company, @HerCampus, along with @HerCampusBeauty and @HerCampusStyle, two sub-accounts I launched in 2017.

So what does that mean? The details:

  • Manage and oversee social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Snapchat

  • Collaborate with content partners and build new partnerships

  • Write copy for client posts across social platforms and work with sales team to ensure client content is authentic to brand voice, and therefore receives high engagement

  • Brainstorm and produce evergreen and news-pegged video content

  • Develop strategies for tracking analytics, and report on analytics across platforms on a weekly and monthly basis

  • Develop platform-specific social strategy to promote small- and large-scale events before and during, and recap after to ensure high levels of engagement and reach. Example: Her Conference 2017 networking event of 600+ attendees, College Fashion Week 2017

  • Work closely with editorial team to develop new ways to tell the story of HC national and chapter content and ensure that best practices are in place

  • Interview, hire, and manage seasonal interns, adapting the scope of the internship to ensure they develop skills that will help them in their future career endeavors

Sept. 2016 — Feb. 2016: Managed entire Religion News Service social media presence, including posting to Facebook and Twitter, secondarily to Medium and Instagram.

  • Launched RNS Live, Facebook Live series on trending faith news topics, working with reporters to fine-tune ideas and promoting on social, and live-tweeting videos

  • Created 30 second-2 minute videos using Canva and iMovie on faith responses to events to increase engagement

  • Thread tweets to better tell the story of religion and faith news 

  • Advise, support and train staff on preparing social media content and interpreting social media and web site analytics

  • Prepare and submit a monthly progress report, showing performance on traffic from social sources and changes in follower counts to the RNS Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as other analytics and insights

Nov. 2015 — Feb. 2016: Oversaw social strategy for Whiskey Wicks + Whiskey Run on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, shooting lifestyle photos and assisting with marketing campaigns.

  • Assisted with marketing campaigns for Whiskey Run and Whiskey Wicks, two branches of Whiskey, Ink, & Lace focused on healthy living

  • Managed Instagram and Twitter accounts for both brands

  • Designed graphics for both brands, develop posting schedule, and post regularly on both accounts

  • Worked with founder to brainstorm and develop blog posts

  • Increased followings: Whiskey Wicks +150%, Whiskey Run, +45%
