Quick Links How to Delete Individual Instagram Messages How to Delete Entire Conversations on Instagram Instagram makes it easy to delete both individual messages and full chat conversations for your account. We’ll show you how to do this on Instagram’s web and mobile versions. How to Delete Individual Instagram Messages Similar to deleting individual Facebook messages, you can delete any message from any chat you have had with any person on the platform with Instagram’s Unsend feature. This feature deletes the selected message from both your account and the recipient’s account. Related: How to Delete a Facebook Message How to Remove an Individual Instagram Message on Mobile To delete a single message from an Instagram chat on your iPhone or Android phone, first, launch the Instagram app on your phone. In the Instagram app, from the top-right corner, select the message icon. A “Chats” screen will open. Here, tap the conversation in which you want to delete a message. Then find the actual message to delete. Tap and hold that message, and from the options that pop up on your screen, select “Unsend.” Instagram will remove the selected message from both your message history and your recipient’s account. It will appear as though you never sent that message. How to Remove an Individual Instagram Message on a Computer To remove an individual Instagram message on a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the official Instagram site. Start by opening a web browser on your computer and accessing the Instagram site. At the top-right corner of the site, click the message icon. You’ll see a “Chats” page. Here, from the sidebar to the left, select the conversation in which you want to remove a message. Then, on the right pane, find the message to delete, hover over the message, and click the three dots beside the message. From the three-dots menu that opens, select “Unsend.” In the “Unsend Message” prompt, click “Unsend.” And instantly, Instagram will delete the message from both parties involved in the conversation. Note that you can delete messages on WhatsApp in a similar fashion. How to Delete Entire Conversations on Instagram If you’d like to delete entire conversations on Instagram, there’s an option to do that but with a caveat. When you remove full conversations, those conversations are only removed from your Instagram account. The recipient can still access these “deleted” conversations in their account. You should use this method if you’re looking to just clear the chats screen in your account. And without any prompts, Instagram will remove the selected chat history from your account. How to Remove a Full Instagram Conversation on a Computer To wipe off full conversations in Instagram on a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the Instagram site. Open a web browser on your computer and head over to the Instagram site. From the top-right corner of the site, select the message icon.
